Community Consultation
Yilgarn Infrastructure is committed to engaging with communities
and organisations in the Mid West to provide information and
education and understand local views about the Mid West Rail and
Oakajee Port Project at all stages of its development.
Since 2005, we have undertaken extensive consultation in the
region, incorporating briefings and regular meetings with local
councils, business organisations, State Government agencies and
Members of Parliament. Yilgarn also has engaged with local
indigenous organisations and landowners.
We are now formalising this consultation process with a view to
widening communications to capture the views and concerns of
residents in the various regional areas within the project
footprint. To this end, Yilgarn has established a Stakeholder
Communications Group comprising a range of community
leaders representing local government, State Parliament, the
Mid West business community, the Square Kilometre Array Project and
the State Government. This group will help guide the community
consultation process as work progresses on the project.
Yilgarn looks forward to working with the people of the Mid West on
this exciting development to ensure the regional communities and
the Geraldton itself derive maximum benefit from it.
